Here in Slovenia, Ranch dressing isn’t well-known or famous, but we fell in love with it in the States, and now we often make it at home. We find it the perfect sauce for anything deep-fried and the perfect dressing for various fresh salads. It’s also an excellent dip for vegetables or other more indulgent snacks. This versatile dressing is generally made with buttermilk, but we like to make it with a combination of yogurt and sour cream since we don’t have buttermilk at home often.

This homemade ranch dressing is made with yogurt instead of buttermilk. That makes it light and fresh, especially when adding those diced fresh herbs. It's worth making it at home; this is why:

Homemade Ranch dressing is made in minutes, so you can always make it fresh from scratch, or you can make it days ahead. Store the sauce in a sealed airtight container or a sealed jar for up to 7 days in the fridge. Serve cold or at room temperature.

  • Ranch

    In a bowl, stir to combine the yogurt, sour cream, mayo, lemon juice, garlic powder, marjoram, and mustard using a whisk. Optionally add the sugar. In the end, add the diced herbs and season to taste with salt and pepper. Set aside until needed or use immediately.

    Tip
    If you prefer sweeter sauces, feel free to add the sugar; if not, omit it.
