Dairy-Free Waffles

Dairy-Free waffles are crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. They are yeast-free, simple, and quick to make for breakfast or brunch.

Dairy-Free Waffles
We are always on the lookout for new recipe ideas for a fun, delicious, and simple weekend breakfast or brunch. Traditionally, we reserve our Sundays for pancakes in all shapes and forms, but lately, the kids have been loving waffles. These dairy-free waffles are golden-brown, crispy, and delicious on the outside while soft, fluffy, and sweet inside. This recipe doesn't use yeast, making it quick and simple. Instead of using milk and butter, we opted for almond milk and coconut oil, which also add a lot of flavor to the waffles. Serve with your favorite toppings; we like to keep it simple with fresh berries and maple syrup.

Essential ingredients

Here, you can find a little bit more information about some of the ingredients. The whole recipe is available with the ingredient list below.

Almond milk - a dairy-free option that imparts a delightful, subtle almond flavor to the waffles. For those with different dietary preferences, feel free to use oat milk, rice milk, or even cow's milk as a substitute.

Eggs - hold everything together. We use room-temperature eggs, size M.

Coconut oil - has a subtle coconut flavor, and we adore it. Optionally substitute with melted butter.

Vanilla sugar adds flavor. You can optionally substitute with vanilla paste, extract, or seeds from half a vanilla pod.

Baking powder will help them rise and become fluffy.

What to serve with Dairy-Free Waffles

We adore waffles, but the toppings make them fun and unique. Here are some of our favorites:

  • fresh berries or sliced banana
  • Maple syrup or honey
  • sprinkled with powdered sugar
  • with a teaspoon of chocolate spread (like Nutella)
  • topped with chopped and roasted nuts
  • topped with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkled with chocolate chips

Storing and freezing

Feel free to store these waffles in two ways.

Place them in an airtight container or a sealed reusable bag and place them in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Feel free to freeze them, too. Place in an airtight container or freezer bag. Place in the freezer for up to 3 months. Reheat them by putting them in the toaster. This allows them to keep their crispy exterior and soft interior instead of getting soggy in the microwave.
