Nowadays, you can find it in almost every store, especially during the summer months, but its preparation is so quick and easy that you can easily make it at home using familiar and accessible ingredients. This way, you can also fully adjust the seasoning to your own taste.

We prefer to make tzatziki at home, as the preparation is quick and easy. The sauce can also be made in advance. Store it in a sealed container or jar in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Serve it chilled or at room temperature.

METHOD

  • cucumber

    Grate the cucumber and wrap it in a clean kitchen towel. Twist it tightly. Prepare a large plate and, over it, squeeze the towel with the cucumber as hard as you can to extract the water. Use the water for iced tea and lemonades.

  • tzatziki

    Place the grated cucumber in a large plate. Add grated lemon zest, chopped herbs, salt, pepper, and white wine vinegar. Mix well, then add Greek yogurt and stir it thoroughly into the mixture. Add grated garlic and olive oil, and stir again. Optionally, sprinkle with fresh herbs and drizzle with olive oil.

    Serve with a side of your choice, crackers, or any grilled dishes. Store in the refrigerator.
