Olive Tapenade is one of those snacks/appetizers that you just can’t stop eating, it is soooo good. Even though it’s made with four simple ingredients: black olives, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes and olive oil, this treat creates a real party for your taste buds. The tapenade originates from France and in more classic recipe, you will find other ingredients like anchovies and capers too. Serve the tapenade as appetizer or snack. In small amounts, it is also great as an addition to main dishes - more about that below. So what does it taste like? Intense! The taste is incredibly intense and if you love black olives, you will 100% love a good olive tapenade as well. It’s salty, garlicky, yet fresh with a nice hint of sweet sun-dried tomatoes. The texture isn’t silky smooth, but that makes it even more interesting. Appropriate for vegans, vegetarians, gluten free and dairy free diets. Last but not least? Made in just 5 minutes. Quick, tasty, easy and a pretty healthy snack too.

How do you make tapenade?
Black Olives - Buy the best possible black olives with stones - they have more flavor and are overall better than the olives that have stones removed. You want the tastiest olives for this tapenade.
Sun-dried Tomatoes - Add a lovely acidity and sweetness to the tapenade.
Garlic - Classic Mediterranean addition, add a bit of spiciness, but not too much, just enough to create a beautiful connection with the sun-dried tomatoes and olives.
Olive Oil - We recommend using the best olive oil you can find in this recipe. The cheap versions are often flavorless and in this recipe, you really need all the best flavors since there are only 4 ingredients.
This tapenade is without anchovies and capers, but you can optionally add anchovies, capers, herbs, lemon zest, candied lemon.
